In a nutshell, The Burgg is kind of like Pictionary, except the category is movies, there's no little scraps of paper, and you have tons of friends all of a sudden. Think of a scene from a movie - any movie - and try to draw it using our powerful in-browser sketchpad. Everyone else will try to guess what the heck you drew. If you're not feeling particularly creative, you can just keep guessing at everybody else's drawings. Go on - we have enough to get you through your entire work day.
What's there to do?
- Browse all the drawings; hitting "next" will give you another random one by default
- Browse Easy, Medium or Hard drawings
- Enter your guess for what movie each drawing is of
- Add your favorite artists and/or drawings to Your Favorites, so you can keep track of them
- Check out the newest drawings added to the site
- Draw a new movie scene
- Submit drawings to our daily Festivals!
- Check Your Profile to see what guesses others are making at your drawings, and comments they leave
Do I have to be an artist to draw and submit pictures?
Of course not. In fact, the worse you are, the funnier it is... kind of like karaoke. If you do happen to be an artist, The Burgg is a great place for you to show off your skills. Our in-browser paint application, Shi-Painter, is easy enough for anyone to use, yet powerful enough for the Michelangelos among you. The only requirement is a love for movies and a sense of humor.
Do I have to sign up to participate?
You can take guesses at as many drawings as you want without signing up to be a Member, but if you want to draw and submit pictures, leave comments on other people's drawings, send private messages, or enjoy the rest of our community features, you do need to register an account. It's fast and free.
How do I win?
We're keeping track of how many drawings you guess correctly, but we aren't showing that info just yet. What we are showing is how many people guess each individual drawing right so that we can tell you how hard it is, on average. We're also recording how people rate each drawing so we can honor the most-liked creations, whether they're funny or just plain well-drawn. We do plan on working on a "grading" system in the near future to keep track of how good a guesser you are.
GUESSING
How do I input my guess for a drawing on the front page?
1. Type the title of the movie in the box and hit Enter. If it was found in our database, it will turn green; if there were multiple matches, it will let you choose the movie you were thinking of.
2. Once your movie title has been validated (green), hit Enter again to submit your guess.
What if the movie I'm thinking of isn't in your database?
Then it's not the right answer to the drawing you're looking at.

Why won't the drawing application work?
Currently, the drawing app Shi-Painter works reliably only on PCs using browsers with Java installed. We can't guarantee that it works on Macs.
Can I upload a drawing I've made?
If you prefer to upload a picture you've drawn using software other than our paint application, or a drawing you made on paper and scanned in, use our Upload interface.
Who owns the drawings I submit?
You do. However, by submitting your drawing, you also grant us a license to use and display it in other ways related to our site. Please see the section entitled "User Submissions" in our Terms of Use.
